Daniele Defranchis
About.
Daniele Defranchis is a guitarist, concert player and composer from Milan, Italy. He lives in Changzhou (China), where he is Head of Guitar and guitar teacher at Wycombe Abbey School - Performing Arts Department.
Born as a rock guitarist, he then studied classical guitar and achieved the Conservatory Diploma and XIX Century guitar Diploma, and finally developed his personal style, finding inspiration from personal music and travel experiences.
Elements of classical, ethnic, and modern music merge into a unique sound based on the common traits of those different cultures. The guitar is played with many different techniques, traditional and unusual ones, also making live recordings on a loop station. Live performances are a journey into music cultures, dance, contemplation, and meditation.
His CD “The Source” includes original compositions and personal arrangements of traditional music and his second CD “Raw Wood” will be out in summer 2024, under the Italian jazz/fusion label Dodicilune.
He performed with classical and modern ensembles, as a soloist and with his own music in Italy, Europe (Germany, France, Denmark) and in China in prestigious Grand Theatres (among which Shanghai Oriental Art Center and DaNing Theater, Xiamen, Suzhou), remarkable venues (Nuts, MAO) and festivals (Qingdao International Guitar Festival, Fete de la Musique, International Music Cities Convention, Greater Bay Dance Festival,) and he often is invited all around China as a concert player, member of jury, masterclass teacher and lecturer and appeared to numerous TV shows in local and National TV.
He has a Bilibili channel with more than 60k followers.
